Easter Silhouette Craft…

With Easter just three days away and the kids home from school, I know I have to get creative fast and put together a few crafts for them so they aren’t totally bored with the extra days at home. It’s a nice way to break up the day too! The themed craft below is perfect for Easter.

Last year we did these fun (and easy) Stained Glass Easter Eggs that we’ll be doing again and this is another great one that both my kids can do.

Mabel has been working on and become proficient at her scissor skills, so this was great for her. As for Evelyn, she got a kick out of just tearing the paper into “strips”. She’s not really scissor-trained just yet. Either or and this came out really cute.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Watercolor paper

Exacto knife (will work better rather than the scissors I used!)

Kids scissors

Construction or patterned paper

Glue stick

Draw an Easter egg on your watercolor paper.

Cut it out using your exacto knife (for adult only)

Trace the egg on another sheet of watercolor paper

Have the little ones either cut or tear pieces of construction paper and let them glue those strips down onto the outlined egg.

Once that eggs is filled use the sheet with the cut out of the egg and glue it on top of the paper collage.

We will be making extra ones to take to a friend’s house as a cute thank you card from the girls.

Wishing you and your family a Happy Easter!

Emma, you’re a genius! You found an age-appropriate craft for your daughters to explore their creativity that resulted in a beautiful art piece. Your friend will love the thank-you gift. Tell Mabel and Evelyn they did a terrific job!
Speaking of Mabel, I know you don’t want to hear this but I swear, every time I see a new picture, she looks more grown up. Funny, I was reading an article where parents were discussing their kids first words. I’m guessing that for you and B that seems like just yesterday!
Anyway, love hearing from you and wishing every Bunny in your family a very Hoppy Easter!
