Mamahood

Happy Mother’s Day…

Prior to having children of my own I thought motherhood would come pretty easy for me. Hahaha, sucker! I’ve learned and experienced some hard truths since having young kids. There’s no such thing as sleeping in anymore. There’s no such thing as having a private moment in the bathroom. I’ve been pooped, peed and vomited on. I’ve learned and have got pretty good with negotiating and what bribing is all about. But Mabel might be even better at it. These of course are just some basic examples.

I give myself a pretty hard time when it comes to striving to be this “great mom.” The fact is though, I’m trying, hard. I want to be someone my children can lean on, trust and laugh with. To give them a solid foundation of good morals and a strong work ethic. A sense of security, to be themselves and to follow their dreams. And if I keep going back to those fundamentals then I think I’m on the right track.

I give myself a pretty hard time when it comes to striving to be this “great mom"

I love watching my kids grow, learn and discover. I am so grateful that they are healthy and happy. Hands down motherhood has been the greatest challenge and by far the greatest gift presented to me and I respect the person I’m becoming because of it.

I wanted to wish you all a Happy Mother’s Day! Thank you for reading and/or commenting. We all have something special and unique to share as we walk down our own independent road of motherhood. I’ve learned so much from you all and I thank you.

Did you do anything fun or out of the norm today? Hope you enjoyed it!!

From my home to yours,

Emma xx

Beautifully written. Being a mom is the most rewarding job even though it’s not always easy 🙂

It’s definitely not easy. But couldn’t imagine my life any other way 🙂

Happy Mother’s Day Emma. I had a nice dinner with my mom and a couple of close friends that are like second moms to me.
I definitely agree with you about motherhood being the greatest gift. When I was diagnosed with SLE I was devastated. I found the strength in being a mom and needing to be there for my kids was all I needed. There was no way I was going to give up one minute of the hugs and kisses, the laughter and the tears and all the little things that so many take for granted.
I had to laugh when I read your blog tonight. Negotiations, now that can be a challenge when they get the hang of it. Lol. I love your writing. Tonight it brought so many memories flooding in and I thankyou. I know it is supposed to be for new moms but it is so much fun to share. Your are a great mom Emma. You don’t need to be “perfect” you just need to be you.
Happy Mother’s Day to all in our community. I hope you had a wonderful day.
Until next time…
Roxanne

I’m not a mom yet Emma but I love reading your blog. I think you’re a great example of a mom and step mama! I really do congratulate you and bruce and demi on raising your powerful family together. I assume demi (and obviously bruce) was able to give some great advice?? Take care ::-) you’re doing great!!!

Emma Heming Willis says:

Julia-Selina says:

Dear Emma,

I’ll say it again like you’re a great mother. ^_^

I think that you and Bruce are so down to earth and love your children about everything. You can see that you very well.

As a mother, you may make mistakes and as my mother always says nice, learn from our mistakes. And that’s saying a fivefold mother.

Everything you and Bruce, your children enter, they give you back one day. ♥

Kiss and Hugs Julia

My son is 21 now and is a junior at Univ of Oregon. I live in Seattle, so he drove up to spend the weekend with me. We’re close, as I mostly raised him on my own. It was a great weekend, we spent Saturday in the heart of Seattle having fun & Sunday watching movies & just talking. I loved the age your babies are at, but I so cherish the friendship that has evolved now that he is grown. I’m sure you & your hubby feel the same about your 3 grown girls. My son is my heart, can’t remember life anymore before I was a Mom, and wouldn’t want to! I enjoy your blog, hope your Mother’s Day was wonderful too! xo

Emma Heming Willis says:

This warms my heart. I am very much looking forward to them getting older and watching our relationship evolve. But I am enjoying every minute and trying to stay in the moment!
