Magic Elixir…Apple Cider Vinegar

Who knew that Apple cider vinegar was good for more than pickling and salad dressings? I recently talked about wanting to add more hydration  to my life, but now it looks like I should also be ingesting more apple cider vinegar as well!  When I first heard about taking a shot of apple cider vinegar for “all that ails you”, I thought we were dealing with a faux folk remedy. After doing a bit of research Apple Cider Vinegar is anti-glycemic as it blocks some of the starch from being digested and raising your blood sugar. You want to make sure that you are using the unfiltered type which looks cloudy and slightly blob-like. The “blob” is actually loaded with probiotics and other beneficial bacteria. By the way, the blob I speak of, is actually called “the mother.” But please hold off from swigging large amounts of the amber magic straight from the bottle, not too good for the enamel on your teeth or could irritate your esophagus. You are going to want to use sparingly and dilute with water. Once you dilute with water, you have got a wonderful, inexpensive, cure-all on your hands.

Below are a few ways to add apple cider vinegar which could get you back on track to good health:

Who knew that Apple cider vinegar was good for more than pickling and salad dressings...

Sore Throat: Mix ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar with ¼ cup of warm water and gargle every hour or so. Most germs can’t survive in the acidic environment that vinegar creates.

Stuffy or Runny Nose: Apple cider vinegar contains potassium which thins mucus. Mix a teaspoon of your unfiltered liquid gold with a glass of water to help you get your nasal passages back on track.

Dandruff: Putting apple cider vinegar on your scalp changes the PH making it harder for yeast to grow. Place ½ cup of water and ½ cup of apple cider vinegar in a spray bottle and spritz your noggin. Let sit for 20-40 minutes and then rinse and wash as usual.

Indigestion: If you are prone to indigestion then you should try adding one teaspoon of honey along with a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to a glass of water. Stir well and consume 30 minutes prior to eating.

Problem Skin: Use apple cider vinegar as a toner to eliminate acne causing bacteria. Zap those zits away with apple power.

There are SOOO many uses for apple cider vinegar! You know I had to make a Pinterest board to store all of the different recipes I want to try. Do you already use apple cider vinegar around your home? Please share with me how you use it!

My coworker drinks it for a hunger suppressant, but like you said, she dilutes it in water. I don’t know the exact measurements but she has had success!
