Eucalyptus Shower

I’m lucky to have my mom a roughly 90-minute drive from where we live. She LOVES being a grandma and I LOVE when she comes to help with the kids and spend time with us. So for this VIP I thought I’d try something different other than the normal bouquet of flowers next to her bed–a bouquet of eucalyptus in her shower.

I’m all about self-care  and after a day with my energetic kids, my mom deserves a nice LONG shower to unwind. So why not add this natural aromatherapy? By no means is it going to be as potent as sprinkling a few drops of eucalyptus oil in your shower but the smell of the fresh bouquet is lovely and mild. Eucalyptus is great to stimulate immunity, provide antioxidant protection and improve respiratory circulation, not to mention how pretty it is and an unexpected surprise other than flowers.

I bought a bundle at our local supermarket. I took a good whiff to make sure there was a nice potent scent that emanated from them. Now you can buy eucalyptus branches online but I wouldn’t take a chance unless the seller can vouch that it will arrive at my doorstep smelling like eucalyptus! Ok, so truth be told, I originally bought mine online and once they arrived they smelt like nothing! I was a bit annoyed to say the least but a good lesson that I’m happy to pass on.

Here’s what you’ll need:

A bundle of Eucalyptus branches

Scissors

Dish towel and hammer

Jute twine

Take each branch and cut the ends. Then cut an inch lengthways. By doing this it will release more of the scent. Once you’ve finished your bundle, lay your dish towel over the ends and gently smash them. Once again this will release the scent. Tie the bouquet off at the end. Hang them over your shower head and enjoy.
