Meet the Village 💙
This week on the blog, dem Meet the Village 💙
This week on the blog, dementia care expert @teepasnows_pac helps us understand something every care partner (and beyond) should know. There’s not just one kind of dementia.
Alzheimer’s may be the most well-known, but there are over 120 types of dementia, each affecting the brain and behavior in unique ways.
One of the most common questions I get asked is whether Bruce remembers me. My answer, “Yes, he has FTD, not Alzheimer’s.” What I go on to say is that our brains do so much more than just hold memories.
Knowing the differences can change how we support and connect with our loved ones.

A caregiver’s journey is different for everyone, A caregiver’s journey is different for everyone, but one thing I’ve learned is how powerful and valuable it is when we share our stories. When we do, we support the next caregiver who might be feeling lost, alone, or fresh out of ideas.
I’m starting a new community project in hopes it will take flight. For now, it will be a space for me to listen, learn, and begin compiling these important stories.
If you’re caring for someone, or have in the past, I’d be honored to hear from you. You can answer one (or both) of these prompts:

✨ What would you tell your younger caregiving self just starting this journey?
✨ How did you get the support you needed from family and friends?

Email your story to stories@emmahemingwillis.com

It doesn’t need to be long, just reflective. What you choose to share could help another caregiver in more ways than you realize. Everything you send will stay confidential and be read only by me and my team 💙
Still feeling inspired after my fireside chat with Still feeling inspired after my fireside chat with Jason Resendez at the Caregiver Nation Summit in DC. 💙
We talked about what it truly means to care for the caregiver and how sharing our stories brings visibility, value, and support to the 63 million unpaid caregivers across the U.S. Because caregiving isn’t just personal, it’s a societal responsibility.
Thank you to the @caregiver_nation for making the space for these essential conversations and driving meaningful change in policy, research, and community support. You’re leading the way because care can’t wait.

This would’ve been Bruce’s perfect night. Surr This would’ve been Bruce’s perfect night. Surrounded by friends and family, listening to live music, and jumping in with his harmonica to jam. 💙🎶
@thesohosessions gave us a night to remember by celebrating Bruce and rallying support for @theaftd in the best way with music, connection, and whole lotta love.
Massive thanks to our legendary friends Keith Richards, Mavis Staples, Warren Haynes, Norah Jones, Jane Rose, Stef Scamardo, Greg Williamson, Nicole Rechter and to the generous sponsors @jtmagen and East Rock Capital for making it all happen.
Thank you to everyone who showed up and showed their support.
