I bought 4 pumpkins this year envisioning how cute all of them would be sitting on our front porch, all-lite up with their cute triangle eyes and nose. That missing-lots-of-teeth sweet smile. I’ve never had to rely so much on make-up like I do now. Between my melasma that developed during my pregnancies and my dark circles (we all know where that comes from) I need some make-up magic before I get out the door. I’ve also never liked the look of too much make-up. At the moment it’s a pretty big trend that I won’t be following. Yes, make-up is fun and sometimes I have to put more on than I normally would. But this here is my everyday, quick fix; get out the door “natural” approach.

Labor Day marks the start of the apple-picking season on the east coast. And lucky for us we have an array of orchards to choose from that are close by. This had been on my to-do calendar for some time now as I’m always searching for different and fun ideas to do with the girls. I mean, this was my first time apple picking as well!

Summer is in full swing and hands down I have to say, it’s been a really great one so far. So wonderfully great that this mommy has eased up the reigns a bit on our usual healthier eating habits. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like to deprive my children of sweets, because I believe everything in moderation. But in saying that, my moderation meter may be slightly prejudiced toward frozen sweet treats this time of year! We are in sunny California after all, and these fun warm days just beg for some good ole ice cream every now and again.

Summer is in full swing and it has been amazing to see the girls flourishing during our time here in California. They’re both learning to swim like fish and I think we are all embracing the more laid back California dreamin’ summertime. A new development for Mabel is how much longer she is able to engage on a particular project. Coloring has always been a favorite activity, but the time spent was about 5-10 minutes on the average. Now she can spend anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour whipping up her masterpieces. Not only does she love to color and paint, she is all-in for any type of crafting project (watch out, Martha Stewart!) and this mommy needs to step up her game…
