Unfussy Self-Care Tips for Busy Women…

Kudos to all the superwomen out there who are working so hard to balance their careers, families, and personal lives.

Whether you’re a career woman or a stay-at-home mom, it is no easy feat trying to achieve all that you do. As moms, wives, and businesswomen, it’s important to ask my busy ladies out there: do you ever take time out to give yourself some Tender Loving Care? How do you replenish your own energy after giving your all to others? My wild guess is that many of us may not practice any form of self-care at all. But this is a no-judgment zone, so don’t feel guilty, but let’s start the conversation.

The good news is that there are plenty of simple ways to help prioritize YOU! Below, we share a few of our favorite unfussy self-care tips for busy women.

Self Care Tips

The following tips will help kick start your health and wellness journey.

Eat Healthily

Our daily hustle makes it easy to binge on high-carb diets and fast foods that make us slow and sick. Poor dietary habits (e.g., high sugar, high salt, oily, and processed foods) can affect our brain health and metabolism.

Replace unhealthy ingredients on your plate with nutrient-dense foods. Start your self-care ritual by consuming vegetables, fruits, prebiotics (e.g., garlic), probiotics (e.g., yogurt), proteins, and healthy carbs. Stay hydrated with water, too. Also, remember to chew slowly and relish every bite while you eat.

Take a Breather

A simple trick to practice when you’re on the verge of a breakdown? Stop whatever you’re doing and breathe deeply in and out. Mentally, it feels like “in with the good, out with the bad.” Feel your shoulders leave your ears.

Taking deep breaths is a surefire way of relaxing, mentally and physically, after working yourself to the hilt.

Lean on Your Support System

Don’t do it all alone – it’s utterly draining. Learning to ask for help is a form of self-love. Whether you’re the strongest, bravest, or healthiest woman out there, it is crucial to have a strong support system in place for balance.

Too busy to do the laundry? Ask for help from your family! Feeling bored and lonely? Reach out to your besties for a night out. Feel like you’re crashing mentally? Get help from a professional therapist. Odds are whatever problems you are facing, someone in your life will be perfectly happy to help you out, so don’t take it for granted!

Practice the 4 Rs.

For your well-being, it is important to practice what we call the “4 R’s” – Rest, Rejuvenate, Repair, and Recharge. The fantastic news is that having a good night’s sleep can help you achieve all four of these.

For a restful sleep,  ban all work-related activities from your bedroom, turn off your gadgets an hour before bedtime, and offer gratitude for what you achieved that day.

Deep Cleanse Digitally

The Internet can be a lot to deal with.  Don’t get me wrong, it has been a blessing, but it has also opened a portal for many women to get bullied, trolled, body-shamed, age-shamed, and put under undue pressure.

If you observe that the Internet has wreaked havoc on your emotional and mental well-being, it’s time to cleanse your apps deeply. Press “Delete” on all burdensome apps till you’re ready to face the online world again.

Have Fun

Have you been holding the weight of the world on your shoulders like Atlas? Now is the time to unburden yourself and start living. Go out there and have some healthy fun. Laugh heartily, fall in love with life, have cheat days for your diets, engage in an adrenaline-fuelled activity, or learn a new language, hobby, or recipe. Learn to live for your own pleasure a little, and joy will follow.

We show so much love and attention to everyone around us, and at the end of the day, we have little or nothing left to take proper care of ourselves. Lack of adequate self-care can lead to psychological and physical health concerns sooner than later.

Remember, the world will continue spinning even when you and I are no longer here. So, take this as a cue to give yourself some much-needed grace and practice self-love.
