Skinny margaritas have been all the rage the last few years but now we are about to up the ante… Say hello to my little friend named goldenberries! What are goldenberries? Just a tasty SUPERfood and source of beta-carotene, protein, bioflavonoids, and vitamin A. Goldenberries have been cultivated for thousands of years beginning in the Incan Empire. Also known as “Incan Berries” or “Cape Gooseberries”, these warm-climate fruits are handpicked and sun-dried. Their chewiness and robust sweet and tart flavor make them especially popular with people who love tart candy. (Think “sour” gummy worms). That tart flavor profile makes goldenberries the perfect candidate for margarita fixins.
If margaritas aren’t your thing, then just make the goldenberry lemonade as the perfect non-alcoholic, kid-friendly libation. I may have to pour this lemonade into our popsicle molds for summer .
